The home design app that works from one photo of any room, or the whole house

Photograph a room, or the front of your house, and say what should change. About eight seconds later the same walls come back with the change made. That answers the question a paint chip never can: would I actually like living with this?

Real renders

Every render here is unedited, including the ones that missed

Every image below started from the before-photo in its corner, and none of them have been edited. Under each one is the change we asked for. Each prompt also ended with the same instruction: keep the room's shape, windows and camera angle exactly as they are. That sentence is what keeps the result recognisably your room.

House exterior render, modern farmhouse, from the before-photo shown The before-photo this render started from 7s

House exterior

Modern farmhouse

What we asked forRemodel this house exterior in a modern farmhouse style: white board-and-batten siding, black window frames, a black front door with a wide covered porch, dark bronze light fixtures, a fresh green lawn, a clean concrete driveway and neat boxwood beds along the front.

What it missed, and the fixThe siding came out as horizontal lap, not board-and-batten, and the small portico was kept rather than widened into a porch. Say “vertical board-and-batten with visible battens”. Naming the direction is what separates it from lap siding.

Start from this sentence
House exterior render, charcoal siding, wood door, from the before-photo shown The before-photo this render started from 8s

House exterior

Charcoal siding, wood door

What we asked forRepaint and refresh this house exterior: charcoal grey lap siding, crisp white trim, a natural wood stained front door, black gutters, new dark grey roof shingles, a fresh mowed lawn, a clean driveway and low green shrubs along the front.

What it missed, and the fixThe weeds and the cracked driveway were left as they were, and the roof was not replaced. A new roof is its own job. Give it a sentence of its own instead of burying it in a list.

Start from this sentence
House exterior render, navy, yellow door, hydrangeas, from the before-photo shown The before-photo this render started from 8s

House exterior

Navy, yellow door, hydrangeas

What we asked forRepaint this house exterior navy blue with white trim and a bright yellow front door, replace the roof with dark grey shingles, add black lantern lights beside the door, a fresh green lawn, a clean driveway and tidy hydrangea beds along the front.

What it missed, and the fixThe lawn was only partly cleaned up and the roof was not changed. Roofs get dropped from long lists. Ask for the roof in a sentence of its own.

Start from this sentence
Living room render, modern minimalist, from the before-photo shown The before-photo this render started from 8s

Living room

Modern minimalist

What we asked forRedesign this dated living room in a modern minimalist style: replace the carpet with wide pale oak flooring, paint the walls warm white, replace the floral sofa with a low grey linen sectional, replace the brass shelving with a slim oak media console, hang plain white linen curtains, add a large neutral wool rug and one tall plant.

What it missed, and the fixIt gave a straight sofa, not a sectional, and the old patch marks on the wall are still there. Say “an L-shaped sectional facing the window”. Shape and placement beat the word sectional on its own.

Start from this sentence
Living room render, mid-century modern, from the before-photo shown The before-photo this render started from 9s

Living room

Mid-century modern

What we asked forRedesign this dated living room in a mid-century modern style: walnut hardwood floor in place of the carpet, a rust-coloured low sofa with walnut legs, two leather lounge chairs, a walnut sideboard where the brass shelves are, a globe pendant light in place of the chandelier, a geometric rug and plain cream curtains.

What it missed, and the fixThe old floral curtain still hangs at the right-hand window. Name what should go, not just what should arrive: “remove the floral curtains”.

Start from this sentence
Living room render, cozy transitional, from the before-photo shown The before-photo this render started from 11s

Living room

Cozy transitional

What we asked forRedesign this dated living room as a cozy transitional living room: light greige walls, a cream slipcovered sofa, a round oak coffee table, a pale jute rug over new light wood flooring, a black metal floor lamp, white linen curtains, built-in white bookshelves where the brass shelves are, and a few framed prints.

What it missed, and the fixThe right-hand curtain and the brass chandelier were kept; the chandelier was not in the sentence, the curtain was. Anything you do not mention tends to stay. List the fixtures you want gone.

Start from this sentence
Kitchen render, white shaker, black hardware, from the before-photo shown The before-photo this render started from 7s

Kitchen

White shaker, black hardware

What we asked forRemodel this oak kitchen: white shaker cabinets with black handles, white quartz countertops with a soft grey vein, a white subway tile backsplash, a black faucet, matte black pendant lights over the island, stainless steel appliances in place of the white ones, and a light oak floor.

What it missed, and the fixThe island stayed oak, the appliances stayed white, and the fluorescent panels were kept. Cabinets, island, appliances and lighting are four separate asks. The island needs its own clause.

Start from this sentence
Kitchen render, green and white two-tone, from the before-photo shown The before-photo this render started from 8s

Kitchen

Green and white two-tone

What we asked forRemodel this oak kitchen in a modern two-tone style: dark green lower cabinets and island, white flat-panel upper cabinets, a warm wood countertop on the island with white quartz on the perimeter, a zellige tile backsplash, brass hardware, recessed lighting instead of the fluorescent panels, and a herringbone wood floor.

What it missed, and the fixThe upper cabinets kept their arched doors instead of going flat-panel, and the fluorescent panels stayed alongside the new recessed lights. Say “flat slab doors with no arch”. On its own, “flat-panel” left the arch in.

Start from this sentence
Bedroom render, calm modern, from an empty room, from the before-photo shown The before-photo this render started from 7s

Bedroom

Calm modern, from an empty room

What we asked forFurnish this empty room as a calm modern bedroom: a low oak platform bed with white linen bedding against the left wall, two oak nightstands with ceramic lamps, a large cream wool rug, a linen bench at the foot of the bed and one framed print above the bed.

Start from this sentence
Bedroom render, boutique hotel, same empty room, from the before-photo shown The before-photo this render started from 9s

Bedroom

Boutique hotel, same empty room

What we asked forFurnish this empty room as a boutique hotel bedroom: a tall deep green velvet headboard against the left wall, crisp white bedding with layered pillows, brass wall-mounted reading lights, dark walnut nightstands, a dark patterned rug and a small armchair by the window.

Start from this sentence
Bathroom render, bright spa bathroom, from the before-photo shown The before-photo this render started from 7s

Bathroom

Bright spa bathroom

What we asked forRemodel this dated bathroom as a bright spa bathroom: large-format white marble-look wall and floor tile, a frameless glass walk-in shower in place of the tub, a floating white oak vanity with a white stone top and a matte black faucet, a large round mirror, black sconces and a small window kept where it is.

What it missed, and the fixThe vanity came back white rather than white oak, and the tile is smaller than large-format. Say “white oak with visible grain”, and give the tile a size rather than the word large-format.

Start from this sentence
Bathroom render, dark modern, brass fixtures, from the before-photo shown The before-photo this render started from 7s

Bathroom

Dark modern, brass fixtures

What we asked forRemodel this dated bathroom in a dark modern style: matte black large-format wall tile, a warm walnut floating vanity with a white countertop and brass faucet, a frameless glass shower with brass fixtures in place of the tub, a backlit rectangular mirror, and a light grey stone floor.

What it missed, and the fixThe old brass vanity light and both tile-mounted soap dishes survived the remodel. Small wall-mounted things survive unless named. Add “remove the old light and the soap dishes”.

How it works

It takes three steps and about a minute

The photo you can take right now, standing where you are, is the whole input.

Your photo: Take a photo Your photo

1Take a photo

Point your phone at the room from the doorway, or at the house from the street. One photo is the whole input. A floor plan or a sketch works too.

Type what changes

Redesign this living room in a mid-century modern style: a rust sofa with walnut legs, a walnut sideboard, a globe pendant and a geometric rug.

Your words

2Say what changes

Type it the way you would say it, or pick a style from the grid. Everything you do not mention stays as it is.

The render: See it, save it 9s The render

3See it, save it

A photo-realistic render of that change in your photo, in seconds. Save it to your camera roll, run another direction, or share it with whoever is doing the work.

Limits

What the app does, and what it doesn’t

A render answers “would I like my room like this?” in seconds, for free, before you buy paint, order a sofa, or call a contractor.

  • It redesigns your own photo. Walls, windows, ceiling and camera angle stay where they are, so you are comparing designs, not rooms.
  • It is fast enough to iterate. The twelve renders above took 7 to 11 seconds each. You try five directions instead of committing to the first one.
  • It works on the outside of the house too. Siding, trim, door, roof and landscaping from one photo taken from the street.
  • It does not draw permit paperwork. You get a plan or a render you can act on and hand to a builder, not a stamped drawing set or a priced materials list.
  • It sometimes misses part of a sentence. The charcoal and navy exteriors above were asked to clear the weeds and did not; the white kitchen kept its oak island. Run it again, or change one noun, and it usually lands.
  • It is not a shopping list. A render shows you the direction worth shopping for. It does not price the chair or tell you where it is sold.

Questions

Questions people ask before installing

Is there a free interior design app?

Yes. Renovate AI is free to download on iPhone and Android and free to try in the browser: your first renders cost nothing and need no card. Pro adds higher volume, higher-resolution downloads and unwatermarked exports for when you have chosen a direction and want to hand it to a contractor.

Does it work on Android?

It does. The same app is on Google Play as Renovate AI, and it runs the same engine as the iPhone version and the web studio. Your account and your renders follow you across all three.

Can I use it without installing anything?

You can. The upload box at the top of this page is the web version. Add a photo, describe the change, and the render opens in your browser. Install the app when you want to photograph rooms as you walk through the house and keep the renders in your camera roll.

Is it an AI home design app or an interior design app?

Both, in the sense people search for. It redesigns the inside of a room, and it remodels the outside of a house: house exteriors were the single most-rendered space in the app in the 30 days to 10 September 2026, ahead of living rooms and kitchens. What it is not is a floor planner or a 3D modeller.

How accurate is it?

The render keeps your photo: wall positions, windows, ceiling and camera angle stay where they are, so you are judging the design and not a different room. It is a photo-realistic preview, not a measured plan, and it sometimes skips part of a sentence. The renders above say where that happened. Run the sentence again or change one noun and it usually lands.

Can I design my house exterior with it?

Yes, and it is what people use it for most. Photograph the house from the street and describe the siding, the trim, the door, the roof or the landscaping. The three exteriors above were rendered from one photo of one house. For paint alone, the exterior paint visualizer is the same engine with a color-first flow.

Can it work from a floor plan instead of a photo?

Yes. Upload a 2D floor plan or a 3D sketch and change it the same way you would a photo: remove the wall between the kitchen and the living room, add an island, turn the second bedroom into an office. It keeps the drawing style and the dimensions on the page. Ask it for a furnished 3D view of the same plan and it will give you that too, in about ten seconds.

What rooms can it do?

Any room you can photograph. In the 30 days to 10 September 2026 the app rendered house exteriors, living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, dining rooms, backyards and hallways, in that order of volume. Empty rooms work as well as furnished ones: the two bedrooms above started from the same empty room.

How do I get my renders out?

In the app, the Save button on every render writes it to your camera roll, and every render stays in your projects. In the browser you download it. Pro exports are higher resolution and unwatermarked, which is the version to send to a painter, a builder or a landlord.

See it before you pay for it

Start in the browser with one photo, or install the app and photograph every room as you walk through the house. Same account, same renders, on iPhone, Android and the web.
